Conditions of stay in Burkina Faso

CONDITIONS OF STAY IN BURKINA FASO

Any foreigner who wishes to stay in Burkina Faso for a period exceeding ninety (90) days must hold either a long-stay visa, a residence permit, or a residence permit.
This provision does not apply to the asylum seeker who presents, at any request from the control services, a REQUIRED PERSON and to the refugee who presents the refugee identity card.
Nationals of ECOWAS member countries are exempt from the residence permit. However, they must have a valid consular identity card.
Members of diplomatic and consular missions accredited to Burkina Faso, international organizations and members of their families living with them and residing in Burkina Faso must have a residence permit issued by the minister in charge of foreign affairs.
When a foreigner residing legally in Burkina Faso is required to change his effective residence, he is required to make a prior declaration to the police services in charge of migration control. Completion of this formality gives rise to the issuance of a receipt of declaration of change of residence.
This declaration must be made at least seventy-two (72) hours before the change of residence.
